The story

My mother never called it skincare.

She just made sure our skin was deeply nourished, using pure shea butter on my siblings and me every single day. It was simply what we knew.

The shea I grew up with was magic, but it demanded patience, especially with my busy schedule. Wrestling with a hard block on a rushed morning, dealing with the heavy grease it left on clothes, and for some, the strong smell, simply became a struggle.

I realised something then: the gap was never the butter. It was everything around the butter, the consistency, the packaging, the everyday experience, and Banini is me giving that shea butter the brand it always deserved.

It is not an attempt to invent something new. It is a return to that original care, held to a standard that travels.

Through Banini Butter, I am honouring the soul of the shea while making it an absolute dream to use by making it light and effortless on your skin for all skin types.

I am taking this beautiful, homegrown ingredient from Ghana and proving it belongs front and centre on the highest shelves, proudly showing the world that our native ingredients are the ultimate luxury and that we can have both the rich authenticity of our roots and a beautiful, effortless experience without pretending, even slightly, to be from anywhere else but Ghana.

The jar

Four things in, nothing else.

Every jar is whipped, never melted and poured. Melting collapses the crystal structure and gives you the greasy film most people think shea has to leave. Whipping keeps it light, so it sinks in and stays put.

Small batch

We whip to order in limited runs. If a batch is not right, it does not leave the workshop.

Tested, not guessed

Every tester used the jar for 24 hours before we priced anything. Their answers set the formula and the size.

Priced with intent

Priced against what our testers said a jar was worth, not against what the shelf would bear. Premium enough to fund the quality, honest enough to buy again.

The blends

Four ways to wear it.

One butter, four finishes. The base never changes, only what we scent it with, and every scented blend is essential oil rather than fragrance oil. Pure is exactly that, the butter on its own.

Bright and lifting. Made for mornings and for skin that wants waking up.

Raw cocoa and vanilla

Deep and comforting, the smell of a roasting yard in the north.

Unscented

The shea and nothing else. For sensitive skin, and for anyone who would rather not smell of anything.

Then choose your skin. Every blend is whipped to three different weights, so the same scent suits whichever skin is wearing it.

The richest of the three. For skin that drinks it in and asks for more.

Lighter, and it finishes without shine. Sits down quickly and stays down.

The making

How a nut becomes butter.

Four steps between the tree and your hands. Nothing is rushed, and nothing is padded out with water or filler to make it go further.

Gathered

It starts on the savannah around Tamale, where the nuts are picked by hand by the women who have always done that work.

Pressed

Roasted, pounded and pressed into raw shea butter the way the north has always done it. This is the slow part, and it stays slow.

Whipped

It comes to Accra, where I whip it in small batches until it is light enough to melt the moment it touches skin.

Sealed

Blended for your skin, scented with essential oil or left bare, and sealed into glass.
